Are You Setting Expectations As A Student?

As an EMS student, it’s important to set the expectations for a clinical rotation with your preceptors. Whether you are a EMT or paramedic student, letting the preceptor know what you want to accomplish that day helps them know what to expect from you.

This way when you are on a call, everyone is on the same page and knows what each is doing. So if you need to get intubation help, drug calculations practice or even master blood pressures, be sure to tell your preceptor what you haven’t done yet or need help with. This communication will go a long way when the time comes for that skill to be done.
