Facilities
Breast Cancer and the Environment Research Centers
The scientific theme of Center research is linking molecular, cellular and population responses to environmental agents.
Our mission is to conduct basic and translational research that addresses the overall needs of Southwestern communities pertaining to regionally relevant environmental health issues.
The Center's Continuing Education Program, located at the University of California Berkeley School of Public Health, offers a broad range of accredited courses for practicing health and safety professionals.
OEH Facilities and Research Centers
Founded in 1976, Commonweal conducts programs that contribute to human and ecosystem health — to a safer world for people and for all life.
The environmental and occupational health sciences - toxicology, environmental health, exposure sciences, and occupational medicine - explore the relationship between human health and the environment.
Our overall theme is to understand the underlying basic mechanisms by which individuals can reduce their risk to cancer, inflammatory damage, and chronic degenerative diseases by improving their ability to respond to environmental stresses through chemoprevention, diet, and other preventive strategies.
The present focus of Center research is to improve understanding of the adverse health effects of air pollution on patients with pre-existing pulmonary disease and to determine the mechanisms of the effects of air pollution on the respiratory system.
Researchers at the Children's Centers continue to publish significant research results. For example, researchers found that exposure to certain pesticides can be linked to small head circumference and low birthweight, and that Integrated Pest Management is effective in reducing children's pesticide exposure.
The National Center for Environmental Research manages Hazardous Substance, Children's Environmental Health, and Particulate Matter centers among others
The center conducts interdisciplinary research to resolve issues related to coastal ecosystem health and environmental quality, including public health impacts.
The Center was established in 1958 to promote interactions among physicians, biological scientists, physical scientists, and engineers working on environmental problems that influence human health.
The Johns Hopkins Center for Occupational Safety and Health is a multidisciplinary and interdepartmental program whose objective is to prepare professionals in the field of occupational and environmental safety and health.
The Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center performs collaborative and comprehensive research on environmental health issues affecting the region.
The mission of the MIT Center for Environmental Health Sciences is to take a leadership role in facilitating and promoting research into the biological effects of exposure to environmental agents in order to understand, and predict, how such exposures affect human health.
The mission of CEHS is to take a leadership role in facilitating and promoting research into biological effects of exposure to environmental agents in order to understand and predict how such exposures affect human health.
The Institute supports a variety of center programs to address a range of environmental health issues. These centers are organized in different ways to accomplish an array of goals to advance the NIEHS mission.
Founded in 1947, the Department of Environmental Medicine at New York University School of Medicine is one of the nation's oldest and foremost centers for research into the health effects of environmental pollution.
The goal of our Center is to improve health by investigating environmental exposures, studying who might be most susceptible, and linking our research efforts with the communities we serve.
